America arrives a day before the offical Selection begins, and the rules are she is not allowed to meet Prince Maxon until the next day. America has a small "panic" attack during the night, and leaves to the gardens. The guards don't let America out, and quickly Maxon appears and orders them to let her outside. He walks outside with America. They are both breaking the rules however they do not care. They have a small chat, and go back into the palace. America relizes that all the dreams she had for Aspen and her, may be what she wanted, but not what she needed. But then what does she want?
Violence: There are two types of rebels. The North and the South. Southern rebels are very dangerous and will kill anyone who get in there way, and the North. The north arn't nearly as dangerous and simiply just seem "as if there looking for something." Some of the girls get into a small fight, but nothing major.
Romance: The worst that happens in this book is kisses really. Nothing major happens other than that.
